Wi-Fi Signal Blocking Wall Paper

The wallpaper pictured below is covered in a particular pattern made of silver crystals. The alignment of the crystals means that it is capable of blocking signals used in wireless networks.
The idea behind it is that you cover your walls in the paper and keep the wireless signal you have in your home within the walls and also prevent other signals getting in to the house. Due to the design and layout of the pattern, it does block common Wireless signals but doesn't block regular mobile signals although there is paper that can also do that if required.
Several problems highlighted by Dvice include the issue of windows in your home as well as having to paper the floor and ceiling to get a true 100% block. We assume that covering the walls will somewhat dampen the signals though and provide a little more protection.

Amazon Kindle Colour eReader Rumoured for This Year

Rumours are starting up again about Amazon releasing a new colour Kindle this year. The new Kindle device will likely have a colour eInk screen that will also have a capacitive touch panel over it. Note that this is a rumour and Digitimes who reported this also reported in February that it would arrive in March.
This is a difficult rumour to predict as the Kindle as it is, sells extremely well. Using colour eInk will of course have its benefits in that amazing battery life should be retained as well as the crystal clear readability, but as it is eInk, the screens do suffer from slow updates which is actually just fine for reading. We'll have to see if there are enough colour eInk displays ready for a 2H2012 launch.

Latest ultrabook: Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon

I’ve always been a fan of Lenovo (back then IBM), this latest release from the brand – the ThinkPad X1 Carbon continues IBM’s traditional laptop looks but packs a big punch. To start off with, Lenovo claims the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon to be the thinnest and lightest 14″ ultrabook ever.

By reinforcing the laptop with carbon fibre, Lenovo managed to keep this beast light at just under three pounds and just 0.71-inch thick. It has a 1600×900 screen, a spill resistant a backlit keyboard, a 720p front facing webcam, embedded 3G connectivity (mobile broadband pay-as-you-go option as per Lenovo’s product page), and RapidCharge feature (charging the battery to 80% in as short as 30 minutes).
